The Open Sea Research Initiative System (OSIRIS)
The Open Sea Institute Research Initiative System (OSIRIS) is a privately funded, independent scientific initiative led by Drs. Louis and Denise Joseph. OSIRIS is headquartered in the Nantahala National Rainforest in the American Blue Ridge. OSIRIS investigates how biological and behavioral systems organize, maintain, and recover coordinated function under pressure. The program builds on the founders’ previously published work on systems-level approaches to pediatric suicide prevention, which established the Institute’s commitment to understanding how failures in coordination across community, family, and clinical systems contribute to catastrophic outcomes in vulnerable populations.
The current program spans cross-taxonomic, interconnected lines of inquiry focused on developing theoretical frameworks that unify observations into testable scientific principles. OSIRIS has produced original contributions to the peer-reviewed scientific literature and continues to support the broader scientific and conceptual foundation of Open Sea Institute’s work. OSIRIS welcomes inquiries from researchers, clinicians, and organizations interested in the science of organismal coordinated function and performance.
